Living Young, Wild, and Free?
I assume you all know Life of Pi. Yes, it's a novel-based movie about that Indian boy and a tiger stranded in a boat in the Pacific ocean. But no, I won't talk about the story.
Pi, the main character, though, is a Hindu, Christian, and Muslim at the same time. He believes in many Gods. He thinks that having three religions is better than having none at all. And then, he manages to find the allegory between zoo and religion.
You know, zoo has been a controversial issue since some people say that it is not right to lock up animals in the cage. Animals should be free, they say; living in the open and learning to hunt the food by themselves.
As written on the book: "Well-meaning but misinformed people think animals in the wild are ‘happy’ because they are ‘free’”. But in fact, they do that because they have none to believe and nothing to stand on.
Like a wild animal.
You know, free people thinks they are, well, free. They have no religion (and if they do, they don't give a damn about it) and act like they belong to no one. They think they live on their own based on their desire and blah blah blah. None to follow, nothing to belive. Shortly, they are attached to nothing.
And it's a disaster!
If you think you're wild and free and you think you don't have to take any responsibility, who to tell when you're in trouble? What to read if you're clueless? What to do if you're lost?
Unlike animals in the zoo: they are lucky because they are in the cage. They are attached. They have routines. It is just the same case like people who believe in something; who thinks they belong to God and live a soon-dying world. They have someone to rely on--to stand on.
They have rules.
And what is so wrong to have rules? It makes life easier. It's so tiring thinking about what topic I should write if my teacher says "oh just write whatever you want" rather than "you should write about x". Isn't it? That's why physicians makes formulas and not just gambling everything.
But then there is this phrase: YOLO. You Live Only Once.
Yes, guys, we live only once so let's not waste any of it! Don't waste time falling in love with the wrong person, don't waste time hanging out with friends who trouble you, don't waste time. Enough of morality decadence just because, "Man, everyone does that". Oh Dear God. THAT doesn't make you right. If you consider yourself as an adult, at least you know what's right and what's wrong. Do not follow people who is wanted to be followed just because they don't want to go alone.
Open your eyes. If you only see what you want to see then you deny everything you don't want to see. That's not how reality works, man.
Remember, you're not a wild animal.
